Michelman Unveils Shrink Sleeve Primer

DigiPrime® Vision 9200 Will Eliminate Dry Edge Requirements for HP Indigo Applications. 

Michelman will introduce DigiPrime® Vision 9200, a new primer under development for HP Indigo Digital Presses that will eliminate dry edge requirements for shrink sleeve applications. The product will be revealed at Michelman booth 708 during Dscoop Edge Rockies on March 8-11, 2026 in Denver.

The primer will allow operators to seam through the primer while maintaining high seaming bond strength, removing the need for lane priming and application-specific rollers. This innovation will reduce setup time, downtime, and consumable costs for print service providers.

Benefits to Business
DigiPrime Vision 9200 will feature improved water and chemical resistance for shrink sleeves and high-performance labels used in beverage, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical applications. The water-based, PFAS-free formulation will support food contact compliance requirements.

Expanded trials are underway at customer sites in Europe and the Americas. Press operators at these sites are finding DigiPrime® Vision 9200 especially well-suited for shrink sleeves, as it eliminates the need to leave a dry edge on the substrate where the sleeve is seamed together.

The primer's non-yellowing formulation will provide substrate compatibility from smooth, transparent Polyethylene Terephthpolyalate Glycol (PETG) shrink films to textured wine label stocks. Operators will have the ability to move between label and shrink sleeve jobs without changing primers.

Broad availability is expected later this year. The market for shrink sleeves printed using Liquid Electrophotography (LEP) technology is experiencing strong, sustained growth, driven by rising demand for high‑quality graphics, shorter production runs, and greater design flexibility.
